Redbird Cardinal watches the old man walk back to his tiny cabin in the woods. Everyday he comes up the long lane to get his mail. He walks slowly, cane in one hand, an empty bag of birdseed in the other. He never forgets to feed the birds of the forest. When word comes from his family that they will not come to visit him for Christmas, he is disappointed. Redbird finds a way to give the old man a Merry Christmas after all.
